About the Intermediate Surf Lesson

The intermediate lesson is for surfers who can already stand and ride straight but want to start surfing properly. The jump from beach-break whitewater to the Bukit's reef walls is exactly where a good coach makes the biggest difference, and our instructors surf these reefs every single day.

We focus on the fundamentals that unlock everything else: how to read a wave and pick the right one, where to sit in the lineup, and how to execute a clean bottom turn. These are the skills that separate someone riding straight to the beach from someone drawing lines across an open face.

Depending on the swell and your level, we coach at Bingin, Balangan, Baby Padang or Dreamland. We choose the break that gives you the most rideable waves for your ability, and where appropriate we offer video analysis so you can see exactly what to adjust.

Where do you teach intermediate surf lessons on the Bukit?
Depending on the day's swell and your level, we coach at Bingin, Balangan, Baby Padang and Dreamland. These reefs have defined walls that are perfect for practising turns. We pick the break that gives you the most rideable waves for your ability.
Do I need to be able to surf already?
Yes, the intermediate lesson assumes you can already paddle, catch a wave and stand up. If you cannot yet, start with our beginner lesson and progress from there. Not sure which fits? Message us on WhatsApp and we will advise.
Will I surf the famous reefs?
We coach at the more forgiving Bukit reefs first. As your reef surfing improves we can guide you toward the bigger-name waves. For experienced surfers chasing the heavy reefs, our Uluwatu surf guiding service is the right choice.
Is video analysis included?
Video analysis is available on request and is one of the fastest ways to improve. Seeing your own bottom turn and takeoff makes the coaching points obvious. Ask for it when you book.
